How to Get a Good Camera Angle

Here are some good camera‑angle techniques for content‑creators. With good angles, your videos instantly look more professional and engaging.

1. Eye‑level shot (most natural)
Place the camera at the same height as your eyes so the viewer feels like they’re talking directly to you.
This angle is ideal for:
Talking‑to‑camera videos (YouTube, Reels, TikTok)
Personal branding, tutorials, and “day‑in‑the‑life” vlogs
Use the rule of thirds: put your face slightly off‑center to make the frame more dynamic.

2. Low‑angle shot (powerful, confident)
Film from below, so the camera looks up at you.
This makes the subject look:
More dominant, confident, or “heroic”
Great for intros, motivational clips, or product reveals
Don’t overuse it; one or two strong low‑angle cuts in a short video are enough.

3. High‑angle shot (submissive, cute, or storytelling)
Place the camera above your head, looking down.
This angle:
Makes people look smaller, softer, or more “cute”
Works well for “day‑in‑the‑life”, ASMR, or product‑demo shots (showing your hands working)
Combine it with top‑down / bird’s‑eye when you want to show a flat lay (e.g., skincare routine, food setup, or desk workflow).

4. Over‑the‑shoulder (OTS) and “third‑person” view
Place the camera behind one shoulder, showing your face partially and the scene in front of you.

This angle:
Makes the viewer feel like they’re standing next to you
Great for storytelling, before‑and‑after, or “come‑shop‑with‑me” style videos
Use OTS both in horizontal vlogs and vertical shorts; it feels more cinematic than just frontal shots.
