Kunafa Recipe | How To Make Kunafa
Kunafa (or knafeh) is a Middle Eastern dessert known for its crispy outside, soft inside, and fragrant sweet syrup.
Kunafa (Cheese Knafeh) Recipe
Ingredients:
For the kunafa: 250 grams kataifi (kunafa dough/pastry fibers)
100 grams butter melted
200 grams mozzarella cheese (or mix with ricotta cheese for a more authentic taste)
For the sugar syrup: 200 ml water
150 grams sugar
1 tsp lemon juice
1 tsp rosewater/orange blossom water (optional)
Topping: Chopped pistachios
Method:
1. Make the syrup: Boil water and sugar until dissolved Add lemon juice, cook for 5–7 minutes until slightly thick Add rosewater, then let cool
2. Prepare the kunafa dough: Separate the fibers Kataifi Mix with melted butter until smooth.
3. Assemble: Grease a baking pan with butter. Press half of the kunafa mixture on the bottom of the pan. Add cheese in the center. Cover with the remaining kunafa and press gently.
4. Bake: Bake in a 180°C oven for 30–40 minutes until golden brown.
