Electric car batteries, mainly lithium-ion, consist of cathodes (like NMC or LFP), anodes (typically graphite), liquid electrolytes, and separators.

Core Components
Cathodes use materials such as lithium nickel manganese cobalt oxide (NMC), lithium iron phosphate (LFP), or lithium manganese oxide (LMO), mixed with conductive agents and binders on aluminum foil.

Anodes feature graphite with conductive additives and binders on copper foil, enabling lithium ion storage and release.


Battery Structure
Cells group into modules within a pack featuring thermal management systems for cooling and safety.
Electrolytes conduct ions between electrodes; separators prevent shorts while allowing passage.

Other Types
Nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) batteries use nickel oxyhydroxide cathodes and metal alloy anodes, though less common now due to lower energy density.
