The steepest valley in the world is Rainbow Valley on Mount Everest. Known in English as "Rainbow Valley," this extreme site lies just below Everest's summit in the Death Zone, above 8,000 meters.

Its steep slopes make it exceptionally treacherous, as falling climbers cannot be easily recovered due to thin air and hard ice.

Rainbow Valley sits along the southeast ridge's narrow, steep path near the Hillary Step on Everest's South Col route. The area earned its colorful name from vibrant jacket hues on deceased climbers visible against the snow. Sherpas often warn expeditions about the bodies encountered there

The valley's incline is so severe that it serves as an unintended graveyard for summit aspirants. Unlike broader valleys like the Grand Canyon, its narrow, near-vertical drop in high altitude amplifies danger. No other valley matches this combination of steepness and inaccessibility.
