This plant is strange, Drosera (Sundew)

Unique Shape & Characteristics The leaves are covered in fine tentacles that secrete a clear liquid at the tips. This liquid looks like morning dew (hence the name sundew).

It's actually a sticky mucus used to catch prey. 🪰 How They Catch Prey Insects are attracted by the glow of the "dew." When touched, the insect is immediately trapped because of the stickiness. The surrounding tentacles slowly bend and wrap around the prey. The plant secretes digestive enzymes to absorb nutrients.

This process can take several minutes to hours (not as fast as the Venus Flytrap). Habitat Many are found in: Australia, Africa

South America Usually grows in nutrient-poor swampy soil. Interesting Facts There are over 200 species of Drosera.

Some can catch insects larger than themselves. Leaf movement is an example of movement in plants.
