Trapezium (trapezoid) Formula | Math
The trapezium (or trapezoid) formula calculates the area of a quadrilateral with one pair of parallel sides. It relies on the lengths of those parallel bases and the height between them.
where [ a ] and [ b ] are the parallel sides (bases), and [ h ] is the perpendicular height.
This averages the bases and multiplies by height, derived by dividing the shape into a rectangle and triangles.
Perimeter Calculation
Perimeter sums all four sides: [ P = a + b + c + d ], with [ c ] and [ d ] as non-parallel legs.
For isosceles trapeziums (equal legs), this simplifies design but uses the same area rule.
