Pythagorean Theorem and Example Questions

The Pythagorean Theorem states that in any right triangle, the sum of the squares of the two legs equals the square of the hypotenuse:

Solution: Let [x] be the distance from the corner. Since distances are equal:
Answer: Fasten the bracket approximately 7.1 inches below the corner.
