The Beginning of Ice Cream Appears in the World

The history of ice cream is a global evolution rather than the work of a single inventor. It began thousands of years ago as a primitive treat and gradually transformed into the dairy-based dessert enjoyed worldwide today.

Ancient Origins
The concept of frozen desserts dates back to ancient civilizations, including Mesopotamia and China, where people harvested snow and ice to keep drinks and food cool during the summer. Historical records suggest that by 200 BC, the Chinese were consuming a dish made of milk and rice that was packed in snow to freeze.

Development and Expansion
During the Tang Dynasty (around 700 AD) in China, the recipe evolved significantly as royal chefs began adding milk, flour, and camphor to the snow to improve texture and flavor. This knowledge eventually traveled to Europe through trade routes, and by the 17th century, it had become a luxury item enjoyed by Italian and French royalty

Modern Innovations
While the base product evolved over centuries, the way we serve ice cream changed in the modern era. The iconic ice cream cone, for instance, was popularized in the United States by Italian immigrant Italo Marchiony, who invented a mold to create edible cups and received a patent for his design in 1903
