The Hottest Regions in the World

What is Furnace Creek?
Furnace Creek is a small, inhabited area inside Death Valley National Park, located in Inyo County, California, USA. It sits at about 55 meters (about 180 feet) below sea level, making it one of the lowest settlements in North America.

Why is it famous?
Furnace Creek holds the world record for the highest air temperature ever recorded on Earth: 56.7 °C (134 °F) on July 10, 1913. Because of this, Death Valley and Furnace Creek are often called the hottest place on Earth.

Climate and tourism
The area has an extremely hot desert climate:
Summer days can reach around 50–54 °C (120–130 °F) and sometimes higher.
The average July temperature is about 38–40 °C, while winter days are cooler but still mild.

Despite the heat, Furnace Creek is a tourist hub in Death Valley, with a visitor center, hotel, campground, and paved roads that allow people to see the giant outdoor thermometer and explore the desert safely.
